Cosmetic Dentistry

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Well, it took me long enough but I finally found a goddam dentist that would listen to my needs. For the past 6 months I have been going to dentists trying to find someone who would be willing to close the gap between my top front teeth, change the color from smoker’s yellow to white and finally fill in a chip that had occurred during a bar fight in 2000. None of the dentists I visited seemed willing to do this until I met with the Laurel Cosmetic Dentist team.

These guys were fantastic. The head dentist sat down with me and went over how we would tackle the issues I was having. He said that many dentists these days have become lazy and are only interested in the run of the mill kind of procedures. Naturally, I would have to start by wearing one of those clear Tom Cruise like braces/plates to pull my teeth together, then I would wear another plate for 6 months with whitening gel to basically bleach my teeth back to white and finally the small chip would be filled using some tight bond. I mean how difficult is that? And, to think those other dentists are losing out on a hell of a lot money. Losers!

College Education

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Gibbs College in Vienna, Virginia looks like just the place for me. Ever since graduating last year, I have been trying to find a suitable College or University that best meets my needs and it looks like Gibbs is the one. From their first class academic courses to their life on campus, this looks like a really fun and chilled out place to study.

I am definitely going to undertake an IT degree and Gibbs are offering a really good program at the moment. I also hear that the professors and lecturers are really caring and go that extra mile to help those who are not quite cutting the grades. However, I shouldn’t have that problem as I have always been an A grade student. Oh, I am so excited now. My parents are driving me there this coming weekend for Open Day where I will have a chance to look around and hopefully meet some other first year students.

Trip to Melbourne

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Have you ever been to Melbourne, Australia? I haven’t but I hear it is just wonder so that is why I’ve just booked a vacation there. It’s been years since I have had a holiday and I am really looking forward to it. I’ve heard that Melbourne is a beautiful city very rich in culture, art and music. As I am taking my 5 year old daughter I have been searching for a Melbourne nanny who might help out with Jessica while we are there. As much as I love my kid, it can be very stressful moving them around cities especially if you don’t know the area or public transport system. Hopefully, we will find a nice nanny who wants to join us each day for the next two weeks. Of course everything would be paid for by us along with a small salary on top.

I plan to do lots and lots of shopping, especially on Chapel Street which I hear is the Fifth Avenue of Melbourne. My husband wants to go drinking so we will have to find some good bars with a nice beer garden to visit. I’ve been to Australia one time before but that was to Sydney a long long time ago. This time we have two weeks of pure pleasure and we will be living in luxury staying at the Westin Hotel. It should be a great vacation.

Mother of Pearl

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I was watching this awesome documentary the other day on my whopping 52inch Sony plasma when they showed a story about Pearls. It was extremely fascinating to see how these natural beauties of earth grow and flourish in the ocean. My mother owns several pearl necklaces and I have never really found them that appealing, but after watching this doco I think I am now more attracted to them than diamonds. I particularly like the black pearls which look so mysterious.

Living on the coast of Australia I have a chance to see many pearl farms near where I live. I don’t think however that the man made pearls are anywhere near as expensive as the natural ones found in the ocean. Mind you, unless you knew your pearls it would be quite difficult to pick the difference. It is my girlfriends birthday soon, so I am thinking about buying her some form of pearl accessory. However, I am not sure if she is so interested in them.

New Plasma Debacle

Monday, August 20th, 2007

About two days ago I bought my first ever plasma screen. A whopping 52inch Panasonic. Now, one would think that this would be a joyous occasion for me but it turned out to be a bit of a debacle. The credit card processing information somehow got mixed up and I was greeted by some police just yesterday who claimed I had used a stolen credit card. This of course was just a big mistake but I was in the police station for literally 4 hours whilst they tried to figure out how this error had occurred.

In the end it turned out to be a simple computer glitch at the credit card processing company. It turns out that someone else’s credit card information was entered into the system purely because they had the same name as me. Apparently, this kind of error occurs quite often, but eventually the rightful card is billed. Needless to say I was very unimpressed by the whole situation and the credit card company decided to offer me double points on my purchase as a way of saying sorry.

Vacation in Prague

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

Next month my friend and I have planned to go on a vacation in Prague. It’s been several years since I had my last vacation and I am really looking forward to it. We chose Prague for a few reasons, namely the architecture, which from all accounts is some of the best in the World and secondly for the women. Another of my friends went to Prague several years ago and said he had never seen so many beautiful women in the same place at the same time. As I am single this kind of analysis sounds right down my alley!

In order to get to Prague I did have to sell my beloved plasma screen. I’ve had it for about a year now and whilst I love sitting at home watching sports and movies, I don’t think it quite compares to the life experience of traveling. My friend bought it for $2,000 which is only $800 less than what I paid for it. So, not a bad deal for the both of us I think. Anyway, I am getting really excited now as we have already booked and paid for our flights and everything is set in place. We will be there for a total of 14 days and may even extend for two more weeks and do some further traveling throughout neighboring European countries. I can’t wait!

Luxury Bedding

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

Last weekend my wife decided to drag me to the local Home Depot store to buy some new luxury bedding, which naturally I didn’t think we needed. However, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I managed to conjure up a deal whereby I would let her buy any luxury bedding items she wanted as long as I could buy a Sony plasma screen to go with it. Naturally, she was a little apprehensive but in the end she agreed. She ended up buying a very nice Arabian style king size bed set that apparently matches our curtains!

Next it was my turn. I found an awesome 52inch screen with built-in high definition tuner and 500 gigabyte hard drive. I couldn’t wait to get home. My wife immediately ripped off the old bed sheets and put on the new ones while I setup the new plasma…in the bedroom! That night we both enjoyed the pleasures of our new purchases and ended up staying in bed the whole of Sunday just watching DVDs. Now, who said shopping with the wife couldn’t be fun?

Washington DC Real Estate

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Last weekend I was enjoying the fruits of owning a plasma TV when a commercial came on about Washington DC Real Estate. I’ve only ever been to DC once but I must say I enjoyed it thoroughly. It gave me an idea that I must go back there someday. Maybe even a weekend road trip with the boys could be in order. Nothing like painting the town red in another State and getting up to loads of mischief. My last road trip was to New York and what a nightmare that turned out to be. My friend was arrested for lude behavior in public and thrown in jail for several hours. Then on the way back the engine in my friends old Ford blew.

From memory Washington D.C. has some great bars and there are lots of single corporate women looking for a good time. Women in suits with a brain tend to do it for me so I can see myself having a pretty fun time. It’s just a matter of getting the Friday off work so we can make it a three day road trip. Two days including driving just isn’t enough time. Who knows, I might even meet the love of my life and end up contacting the Washington DC Real Estate company I saw advertising on TV.

Pergola Paradise

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

About two weeks ago my wife and I finally completed the construction of our pergola. It is just fantastic. We situated it right beside our pool so we can keep an eye on the kids swimming and look after the all important bar and BBQ. Along with the pergola we decided to buy two teak chairs. As the pergola is also teak we thought this might be a nice little addition. It is just such a fantastic feeling sitting by the pool, lazing over a newspaper whilst being shaded from the scorching sun.

I did get to thinking and am yet to propose the idea to my wife, but what about a plasma display! Yes, that’s right, this little pergola is missing a plasma screen. I was thinking a nice 52inch Sony would look great behind the little bar we installed. Along with the teak chairs, bar and bbq, I think a plasma screen would make the ultimate finish to this pergola. I know the kids would love it. We could have pool parties and enjoy all the live sports action on ESPN without missing a beat. Ahhh, I can’t think of a more relaxing time.
