Rubber stamps get my Seal of Approval

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

I used to have a lot more paperwork to do with my businesses before I started doing more on the computer. I had lots of invoices and receipts that had to be approved and date stamped. I used to dread all the paperwork, but now I miss it a little bit. Is that strange? When I opened my desk drawer today, I saw my old rubber stamper that I have used on probably $30,000 worth of orders, what a valuable tool then, if I have used it that much. My favorite rubber stamps and embossing seals got the most use because of all the documents that I was responsible for recording. These tools are undervalued in my opinion, as long as they hold up and keep working. I always use the same online store to buy from too, because I have never broken one of their tools, just needed and extra for new documents. How much money do your tools get to approve? Mouses make lots of money, but they are used for lots of other things, like playing games. Business tools like stamps and seals get my approval for the hard work getting stamped and pounded all day and still making money.

Quality Binoculars

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I have an unusual family who have all different hobbies and interests. I have a brother-in-law who is a big outdoor sportsman and he loves to hunt and fish. He is ready every spring with new gear and a great interest in spending time outdoors catching things to BBQ. Although I don’t exactly share his enthusiasm, I can understand the passion. He takes pride in his gear, he bought a rifle scope from a website offering high-end sight devices. He showed me the site as a gag for future christmas gifts but I found something I could get for my grandmother. She is an outdoor lover too, just a little more gentle. She loves watching birds and also demands the best type of gear. I bought her a new set of Swarovski Binoculars from a site called sportoptics that specializes in high-end scopes and binoculars.

I think she will be surprised at the quality, but she can also use them for many types of things since they are so powerful, up to 10 times normal vision. They are not cheap, but they are worth it. I also happen to think my brother-in-law may be taking her on an outdoor trip so she can use them. Its all going to be a big surprise for her 80th birthday.

Office chairs to relax in

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

There is nothing like spending 10 hours a day in front of my computer. Obviously, working for myself has its advantages, I can get up and walk around anytime I wish. I was confined to my office the last time I had a job. I didn’t like it one bit. They also had me on a $20 office chair that didn’t have good padding or even put together properly, hard to do your best work when the conditions are like that. I have two plush leather reclining executive office chairs that I love. I got one online at a site that sells great chairs. It gives me the endurance to work longer and it feels good enough to take a nap in.

I told my friends who work online about my chair and they want one for themselves. I paid $800 for it, but I use it more than my $20,000 car. I told them where to find one and I think one of them already ordered one. My wife sits in the chair to surf the shopping sites and she says she could fall asleep in it. I think that is a benchmark for quality chairs. Offices need comfortable environments to support quality work. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

Mobile Phone Deals to satisfy a hungry crowd

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Going out for a little shopping at a local phone retailer has proven to be a challenge. I am swamped with new phones and deals with so many to choose from. I say that I am swamped because I know little about the emerging technology. I like to keep my phones for at least 2 years. I guess that makes me slow to update, but who cares. I am looking for some cheap mobile phones that can send emails with pictures and take video as well. I found some good mobile phone deals on the internet, but I like to touch and check out the phones myself first.
My sister likes to email me and I am always away from the computer during the day. A phone would be a better choice since where I go its loud and I am distracted. An email capable phone would suit my needs. Now, looking online, I see 5 phones I want. I want to spend under $200 to find a phone and a plan that offers the first 3 months free. This way I can check it out and make changes if need be.

Golf equipment is not as important as the fun

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Some people think that all I do is sell Plasma TVs all day long. Well yes and no. I am a big golf fanatic who loves to take a 4 hour lunch and hit the links. I keep score of the PGA tour and my favorite pros. I have the best golf equipment available, well that I can afford. There are a lot of space-age technology irons and putters out there that I think are made for the CEOs who love to compete for the best stuff. There are about 5 of us that get together on the 3rd friday of every month and shoot 18 holes. The loser buys the first round of brews at the country club. We love to chat about new golf articles we have read too. We don’t always talk about golfing, well most of the time anyhow. Just last friday, Drew ( names have been changed to protect the innocent) made a sweet shot that he ended up making an eagle on the 10th hole. He was so ecstatic, his cell phone came out of his pocket and we saw he had auto-dialed his office by mistake back at the 8th hole. His office now had the call on voicebox hearing him at the golf course and skipping out on work. Ruh roh. Not good.

But nothing happened about that, since he had dirt on his boss when he met him at the country club bar last summer. Seems we all hide some golf secrets at the office. But its all in good spirit since its a fun and social sport/ recreation we love to enjoy together. No rivalries that I can think of. We don’t care about score. We only keep it to track our progress. Maybe I will share more another time.

First Trip to Dublin

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Knowing nothing about a stag weekend, my friend had to fill me in. He says its a trip where the groom goes away and has a party with some close friends before his wedding night. Sounds like a bachelor party to me, but I guess they just call it something different in the UK. Anyhow, my friend brought this up because he was invited to one next month with a bunch of friends from his internship overseas. That sounds like a great time. He’s got 10 other dudes that are going to be heading to Dublin of all places and staying a hostel in order to party one last time with his friend before he gets married. I wish I could come, but they say its tough to get more people together when staying in a hostel. He said it was rare to find a Dublin stag weekends hostels group booking with only this much notice. I know they will have a great time but I wonder what a stag party is like over there?

I know parties in the states can get pretty wild depending on who is getting married and how much they value their relationship. I know people who just go out for BBQs, or dinner and drinks. Some people rent strippers and who knows what happens after that. I am not sure I want to know either. I am happily married and hope my wife didn’t have a party like that before we got married. I hope my friend can go Dublin for the party and come home safe. He is known to not remember much after parties like that.

Trophies for the Team

Monday, December 17th, 2007

I am a pretty competitive person by nature. It is probably because of the 3 brothers I have that liked to compete for everything. Being a small town boy doesn’t help much either because there are not that many others in the area to compete with. So every time there is a tournament or competition, the same people enter and usually one of us brothers would take the first prize. But this time is different, I want to help our local soccer team by giving all the boys a special trophy for all their hard work. I was thinking of cup trophies because we won a soccer cup that we entered in at the last moment.

It was a pretty easy tournament, we were the last team to enter and they really needed one more to play. Our team still played well and worked hard to practice for it. I think they deserve a trophy to remember how much fun they had. I also want to work them harder next year and this might help prepare them.

Our team has got many trophies over the years, but a cup trophy this time would be special because it doesn’t look like the others and it matches the design of the team logo too. They are a great team that works hard but still has fun.

A Trip to the Rural Areas

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Traveling across the local countryside. I see an absence of tall structures. They are only houses and small buildings. I see just enough to support the local industry here and not much more. There is just not a large inflow of demand for many things here to drive a push for more housing and buildings. I do however see a lot of cell towers. There are tall metal structures only to supply a signal for cell phones and cell phone users. I wonder what cell tower land leases must cost for the the providers.

I see just a small piece of land next to a farm with a big tower on it. Maybe it costs the provider $20,000 or so? Maybe $500 a year for someone to lease the land to a provider? These same providers will net $2000 a year from their customers who pass through here on the nearby highway and hope to continue their cell phone coverage.

I see a great service being provided by the cell phone industry. And in return they are able to make great amounts of money to support it. I continue to hope that it will be competitive and give the consumer the edge in prices.

Traveling South for the Winter

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Its no secret anymore, I don’t travel much. But why is that? I have a great time when I do and I love it. I have to agree with my wife that I work too often and forget to enjoy some of the more interesting things about this world. I would love to surprise my family for a trip to somewhere warm. I am thinking South America, nah, too far. How about Mexico? It is warm there and it is much more affordable than Hawaii. I would like to go somewhere that has a local scene that is very inviting like Riu Palace. I would love to see a place that the tourists don’t get to. I like a special place that most people miss.

I have always enjoyed staying longer in locations to get a sense for how the local population lives. Would it not be more fun to live like them for just a short time? Why spend all the time using Hotel services when you could travel and live like the locals. Mexico has a special cuisine that I am very fond. The food is so rich with local herbs and flavors, it is very difficult to find that outside of Mexico.

The music of Mexico is almost as good as the food. It is very fun to dance to. Have you seen the local people dance to their music? I haven’t seen it in Mexico yet, but usually the locals come alive in this scenario and you get a glimpse of who they really are. I am done convincing myself. I better spend more time saving the money and convincing my family to come with me. They are lazy like me.

Super Bowl 2008

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Are you ready to experience what the most anticipated game of the year is all about? Can you handle the excitement of it all? I bet you can, and I bet you already have plans to be there. But make sure you know in advance if you can get tickets this year. Demand is already greater than last year and it looks like a sellout in just a day or so.

If you don’t already have tickets, get your Super Bowl 2008 Tickets here while you can. They are still reasonably priced and located in good sections. Take a look now before you forget. I think it will be worth your time. Now make sure to get some hotel accomadations quickly too. They sell out faster than the tickets some years.

So get prepared to see a great matchup this year. Who knows what will happen. The best games are the upsets and everyone wants to see their team take it this year. Will you be there? You better get going.
