Online Bingo Wars Next Door

January 15th, 2008

There is a local club nearby my house that meets together every Wednesday to do battle. This kind of battle is among friends, competitive friends who unlike most combatants, are happy for the other’s success. These are some tough old ladies who wear a staunch grin and listen intently for each number called. That’s right these are some Bingo ladies and Wednesday is their time to play. They have such a serious mood about such a fun and social game. These ladies have been doing this for 13 years now. But some of them are getting older and are finding it difficult to drive to the meeting site. So one of the younger ones had an idea to get together online in a Private Online Bingo website and continue their game. What a great idea, since now they can all chat and enjoy like before without having to leave their houses.

They even got a Ventrilo headset setup to all talk and chat just like they are right next to each other! These ladies are getting high tech and having a great time. Bingo is now a leading cause for social gatherings, but for some people getting together is difficult. Online Bingo makes this easier for these people. I like the peace and quiet on Wednesdays now, since they are not next door, screaming and cheering until late at night. They are probably still enjoying their Bingo, but now its online.

First Trip to Dublin

December 22nd, 2007

Knowing nothing about a stag weekend, my friend had to fill me in. He says its a trip where the groom goes away and has a party with some close friends before his wedding night. Sounds like a bachelor party to me, but I guess they just call it something different in the UK. Anyhow, my friend brought this up because he was invited to one next month with a bunch of friends from his internship overseas. That sounds like a great time. He’s got 10 other dudes that are going to be heading to Dublin of all places and staying a hostel in order to party one last time with his friend before he gets married. I wish I could come, but they say its tough to get more people together when staying in a hostel. He said it was rare to find a Dublin stag weekends hostels group booking with only this much notice. I know they will have a great time but I wonder what a stag party is like over there?

I know parties in the states can get pretty wild depending on who is getting married and how much they value their relationship. I know people who just go out for BBQs, or dinner and drinks. Some people rent strippers and who knows what happens after that. I am not sure I want to know either. I am happily married and hope my wife didn’t have a party like that before we got married. I hope my friend can go Dublin for the party and come home safe. He is known to not remember much after parties like that.

Looking for a Quality Link

December 21st, 2007

I am always looking for value on the internet. My search finds many places where value is high for the price. I usually look for websites offering a link building strategy or tip. That kind of information usually gives me a lot of return in terms of value. I also look for directories to submit my sites to for review. I know of a lot directories that charge more than they are worth. It really disturbs me that they assume a savvy link builder will pay anything to get their link. Well, not me. I look for web directories that have at least PR3 to even consider submitting. I also look to see what kinds of categories there are and what kinds of links have already been accepted. I am really impressed with the Za7 Directory with the quality it offers for a small review fee. It is a pay-for-review directory that offers a valuable link surrounded by other quality sites in your category.

I am definitely going to submit a few sites to this one because the directory is not cluttered with worthless sites. Only high quality sites get listed or sites that are an authority in their respective topic or field. The sites listed are neatly organized and describes with unique text. I checked a site at 5 other directories to compare this. The Za7 Directory was the only one that a unique description of the site. That means that Za7 was rewriting the submissions. That is important because search engines are looking for valuable information and it will regard a unique description higher.

This directory is offering a good value for the review fee. I have checked back a few times and have seen many changes to the categories and site layout. Obviously, someone there is updating this site often and is interested in keeping a good reputation within the web community.

The Swatch keeps on ticking

December 20th, 2007

What to do about my new watch? I wore it so long that it has fallen apart. The band is fading and torn. The watch face is scratched and dirty. I know it still keeps good time, but the rest of it is failing me. Maybe my girlfriend will get me a new one. I have been showing her my watch many times hoping she gets the idea. I think she doesn’t want to get me something like that. Maybe its because she wants to break up with me. I am not sure. But I still have to get a watch even if she does. I like Swatch watches still, maybe I am old-fashioned, or out of style, but I really like those designs.

There are lots of designs for watches, but none of them are as cool as a Swatch is. A Rolex is fat and expensive. A lot like their owners. A Swatch is thin and sophisticated, which I would like to believe I am. Maybe not so much since my current Swatch is falling apart. Well, it is 12 years old now.

Time for a new watch, that much is certain. Maybe if I get my girlfriend a Swatch, she will get me one too. I like that idea, but I am too cheap, and since she always makes me buy a dessert for her at dinner, maybe a Swatch is not right for her. Screw it, I am going to buy myself one right now. I am going to order it online since I can’t wait for the local store to get in the new design.

Trophies for the Team

December 17th, 2007

I am a pretty competitive person by nature. It is probably because of the 3 brothers I have that liked to compete for everything. Being a small town boy doesn’t help much either because there are not that many others in the area to compete with. So every time there is a tournament or competition, the same people enter and usually one of us brothers would take the first prize. But this time is different, I want to help our local soccer team by giving all the boys a special trophy for all their hard work. I was thinking of cup trophies because we won a soccer cup that we entered in at the last moment.

It was a pretty easy tournament, we were the last team to enter and they really needed one more to play. Our team still played well and worked hard to practice for it. I think they deserve a trophy to remember how much fun they had. I also want to work them harder next year and this might help prepare them.

Our team has got many trophies over the years, but a cup trophy this time would be special because it doesn’t look like the others and it matches the design of the team logo too. They are a great team that works hard but still has fun.

A Trip to the Rural Areas

December 17th, 2007

Traveling across the local countryside. I see an absence of tall structures. They are only houses and small buildings. I see just enough to support the local industry here and not much more. There is just not a large inflow of demand for many things here to drive a push for more housing and buildings. I do however see a lot of cell towers. There are tall metal structures only to supply a signal for cell phones and cell phone users. I wonder what cell tower land leases must cost for the the providers.

I see just a small piece of land next to a farm with a big tower on it. Maybe it costs the provider $20,000 or so? Maybe $500 a year for someone to lease the land to a provider? These same providers will net $2000 a year from their customers who pass through here on the nearby highway and hope to continue their cell phone coverage.

I see a great service being provided by the cell phone industry. And in return they are able to make great amounts of money to support it. I continue to hope that it will be competitive and give the consumer the edge in prices.

Traveling South for the Winter

December 17th, 2007

Its no secret anymore, I don’t travel much. But why is that? I have a great time when I do and I love it. I have to agree with my wife that I work too often and forget to enjoy some of the more interesting things about this world. I would love to surprise my family for a trip to somewhere warm. I am thinking South America, nah, too far. How about Mexico? It is warm there and it is much more affordable than Hawaii. I would like to go somewhere that has a local scene that is very inviting like Riu Palace. I would love to see a place that the tourists don’t get to. I like a special place that most people miss.

I have always enjoyed staying longer in locations to get a sense for how the local population lives. Would it not be more fun to live like them for just a short time? Why spend all the time using Hotel services when you could travel and live like the locals. Mexico has a special cuisine that I am very fond. The food is so rich with local herbs and flavors, it is very difficult to find that outside of Mexico.

The music of Mexico is almost as good as the food. It is very fun to dance to. Have you seen the local people dance to their music? I haven’t seen it in Mexico yet, but usually the locals come alive in this scenario and you get a glimpse of who they really are. I am done convincing myself. I better spend more time saving the money and convincing my family to come with me. They are lazy like me.

Overseas Opportunities

December 13th, 2007

These days, work is a little more protected than before in some ways. I have a close friend who just moved overseas. He is a construction worker that specializes in high-rise buildings and elite structures. He does a lot of manual work, but mostly just directs the work crews. He just started working for a new company, a really large one in the UK. He was concerned because his insurance from the USA had expired when he went overseas. But to his delight, he found even better security with a Construction Liability Insurance policy from his new employer.

This policy will cover him whenever he is at the job site. He actually will get a lower premium and a higher payout if something goes wrong. I just didn’t think that could be possible overseas, because of different labor laws, but it is. He has better insurance, more pay, and greater security because of all the new demand in Europe and especially Dubai. He is really excited about all this and tells me all about it.

I really am questioning my own situation now. With the economy in question and my website fees getting higher. I wonder what lies ahead. I am happy for him and I already made a new resume to submit to his company. Maybe they have some work I can telecommute for. I like the insurance he has, maybe I can get something like that while working on the computer. Hmmm, well one can wish.

Stupid videos

December 12th, 2007

I have seen them, I am sure you have too. They are everywhere. They are videos that I cannot describe the motivation to make. I see videos about stupid dog tricks, and kids smacking their dads in the nuts, and people using cars to pull out shrubbery. Yes these are just stupid videos but why are we so interested in watching them? We love to see funny and wacky stuff. Remember the TV show America’s Funniest Videos? Ya, those were stupid, but G rated stupid. Now we have PG-13 and R rated stupid. But the videos are easier to find and getting more innovative too.

I used to do most of the crap with my friends. I used to do worse stuff too, and stuff that only makes me and my friends laugh about it, really stupid stuff. But it was fun to do and it is fun to watch again and again. I love seeing people do stuff like jump their bikes off really big jumps into lakes and bushes. I like seeing people surprise others in a funny way. I love to see people do crazy stuff with their cars and motorbikes.

I see it all , but I keep going back for more. I watch it, I laugh, and then I watch it one more time. I must be crazy, no I am just normal, because everyone watches it too. I enjoy it and I will keep watching it until I find something better to watch.

Rental Mobile Phones

December 10th, 2007

One thing that always gets me about mobile phones is the contracts. Sometimes you end up buying a phone for $20 - saving $100 or so - and end up paying $1000 more than you needed to because of the two or three year contracts.

When thinking of getting a mobile phone, it’s always important to compare free contract mobile phone deals. Smart shopping can save you hundreds or even thousands of pounds over the long run.

And in case you’ve been in a cave for the last few months, big news! The Apple iPhone is out and about and enjoying rave reviews.

In other news, the police identified the killer in Colorado. He was a home schooled kid, who was kicked out of the missionary school where the crime occurred. It’s a sad turn of events, and no doubt will re-ignite the gun control debate.

And before I forget, did you know that Hillary Clinton used to be staunch Republican?  Yup. I guess she’s been flip flopping for some time now.

Gosh I hope Obama gets the nomination. If Hillary gets it the Republicans will turn out in force and we will end up with another Republican president. And we all know that those Republicans will do.
